Komagatake 1986 American White Oak Cask 30 Year Old
Shinshu distillery is located in Miyata village in Nagano prefecture at 798 meters above sea level where the distillery’s cool climate and pure water sources contribute to the high standards of Komagatake's single malt. Distilled in winter, Shinshu whiskies are then aged in sherry, brandy, and bourbon casks. The distillery was built in 1985 by its parent, Hombo Shuzo (“Hombo Brewing”) which is well-known for its shochu and plum wines. Prior to 1985, Hombo's whisky operations had been at Kagoshima on the Southern Island of Kyushu and in Yamanashi where it first started its whisky line in 1960. The distillery stopped whisky production in 1992 due to a decrease in demand; however, production resumed in 2011 following the recovery of the Japanese whisky market.
Mars Komagatake aged 30 Years in an American white oak cask and it comes in an iconic wooden box, with the whisky distilled in 1986 and bottled in 2016.
