Pittyvaich 12 Year Old Flora and Fauna
United Distillers started the Flora and Fauna series in 1992 consisting of 26 different single malts. Originally the range did not have a name. However, the late whisky writer Michael Jackson nicknamed it the "Flora and Fauna" because of the various depictions on the labels. The name has stuck and is known worldwide as Flora and Fauna.
The Pittyvaich distillery was situated in the Dullan Glen on the outskirts of Dufftown, in Banffshire. The distillery drew water from two springs for its whisky, Convalleys, and Balliemore springs. The distillery was originally built to provide malt whisky for blends and was in operation from 1974 - 1993. The distillery was demolished in 2003, having been closed for a decade.
